1. Meeting logs - coming up with ideas

10th of September:

- We researched Katy Michelle and the style of her plays, which are multi-performance plays where she uses the idea of live cinema and incorporates projections, cameras, and other elements to allow the audience to think about issues presented in the play rationally rather than drowning in the emotions of the play.

-  Then we have decided to ask people (students and teachers around the school) to answer some questions related to feminism so we can get some of their views and ideas about this topic. The questions are listed below:

What is the male perspective on feminism?

What is the male perspective on the perfect woman/what do you think is the perfect woman is?

Can you talk to us about your experience of gender roles at home?

Why do you think you respect male teachers more than women teachers?

Can you explain the difference in the way you act with men versus women online?

How do you feel you’ve treated women in the past versus how you treat them now with your knowledge of gender roles?

Can you explain what gender is?

What did you think about these questions?

13th of September:

- Some of the answers from the people we interviewed turned into a monologue workshop which made us go into the research of politicians especially the right wing with examples such as Donald Trump and the Taliban. This gave us an idea of developing a characterization of the politician.

Then, we did some improvisation workshops on relationships between family members, specifically on female members, such as mother-daughter relationships. For the improvisations, we first came up with a list of ideas and then improvised on them, trying to show what the relation dynamics would look like.

16th of September:

- With the workshop we did last class, we have developed some ideas for the characters we will use in our play; the mother, the daughter, and the Grandmother.

Then we looked at a video about Femicide, after watching the video, we all felt that it was very powerful at delivering its messages to the audience of the video. The video also evoked strong emotions in us and made us question ourselves about the problem of femicide. This then gave us the idea of putting pre-recorded videos into the play, which could contain recordings of protests to evoke feelings in the audience. We also thought that adding music that is the theme of feminism would be good for the play.

- In terms of blocking for the scenes throughout the play, we have decided to split the stage into three different locations, with the actors talking through Zoom.
