Evaluation:

This performance went very well overall, with minimal mistakes made when operating the lighting cues on the lighting desk. Although due to the fact that I lacked practice in using the running lights on the scene changes, and did not have it annotated on the script, there were scenes where I forgot to put on the running light, and some where I had put it on. This could have caused some inconsistencies in the overall performance. There were also times when the actors were waiting for my running lights in order to do the scene change, which made some awkward pauses during the play. But for the rest of the cues, I made sure to annotate the corresponding name on both the lighting console and the script as well as the cue number, which is very useful when you try to verify whether if you are on the right cue or not. By having the cue numbers annotated on the script, it will also help me to skip to the right cue if I have missed one.

In conclusion, I think the show met the aims and objectives of the project by creating an immersive and magical play. For example, by using the "police lights" to simulate the lights illuminated from the police cars, and this also links with the sound effect of the police siren, which works really well together to create a bit of tension in that scene. And the use of the "fire" lights, the actor is able to interact with it by putting it out using a bucket of water, which makes it very realistic and creates an immersive experience for the audience. Moreover, the use of the blue lights when the boy's head is being put underwater in the bathtub by dad, which gives a sense of suffocation to the audience. There are some places that need to be improved, for example, the working lights between the set changes. Sometimes the timing of the working lights are not perfect which made the audience able to see the set changes, which makes it less immersive. And also in some scenes, I have forgotten the put the working lights on at all, and the actors are waiting for the working lights. This created a little bit of an awkward pause in the play, which made the audience break away from the scene.
