Introduction
It's finally the time to show off what we have programmed in the lighting desk. Because we have programmed all the light cues and they are also in the right order, we can just hit the Go+ button on the lighting desk and go to the next cue. I was not the one operating the light for the show Tempest which my fellow classmate and I designed the lights, I will show some videos of me operating the sound and light for other performances which we programmed as well to demonstrate how I operate tech during a show.
Performance 1:
EvaluationThis performance went very well overall, with minimal mistakes made when operating the lighting cues on the lighting desk. I think this is due to the fact that the script is well-annotated by the director who provided the script to us - and made sure that all the light cues were clearly marked. Also, during the performance, I always double-checked the cue that was coming next matched with the cue that I was about to execute before clicking the Go+ button to proceed to the next cue. Also, I track the script by looking ahead on the script and identifying a line that is a bit before the cue and just watching the performance and waiting for that cue to come up. This method is a lot better than just looking at the script all the time and sometimes losing track because something diverted my attention from the script.
Performance 2:
Evaluation
In this performance, I was running the sound. This performance did not run so smoothly compared to the other ones, which I think is mostly due to the fact that the script was really hard to read because of the messy annotations, and also the script is really complicated with two separate versions printed on the same page. Moreover, the actors did not really know their lines and sometimes skipped lines making it hard to track. Additionally, the actors sometimes did not project their voices loud enough which made it hard to track the script and I needed to adjust the volume of the sound cues to make sure that the actor is heard. While adjusting the volume, I panicked a bit and did not realize that I could just change it by twisting the nob in front of me, instead I was changing it on the software.
