3. 24th September - 2nd production meeting with actors

Since our last meeting, we found that we are not able to use the smoke machine because of the limitation of the fire alarm not being able to be turned off completely in the auditorium. But we still like the idea of using live cinema.

The actors also shared their opening ideas and I suggested that we could use the following:

  • Music - Something that reflects feminism in the lyrics.
  • Light - Use three spotlights to separate the stage into three different sections, Stage Left, right, and center. The different sections combined with the props make three different locations in which the actors are performing.
  • Projections - The projects have videos and a Zoom meeting. The Zoom meeting connects the actors who are from different locations, and maybe videos that could contribute to the plot of the play or evoke emotions in the audience.
  • Live Cinema - By having Zoom call meetings projected on a screen on stage combined with the actors acting on stage. The Zoom meeting might make the audience think about the problems in this case feminism more rationality when compared to just acting on stage. Or we could also have a camera filming the people on the stage with stagehands present in the play.

We tried both of the ideas listed above in the live cinema section and we found that having a camera recording on the stage and projecting on onto the screen at the back of the stage is not very practical due to the limitations of our stage where we do not have inputs of video on the side of the stage. Therefore we decided to try the Zoom meeting which we think will work pretty well because the things that we need are very simple, just three laptops on stage with the actors, and one laptop backstage that is connected to the projector projecting the Zoom call on stage.
