Night at The Musicals

On the Night at The Musical, our team assisted with the lighting and sound of the performances. I was controlling the lights for the different performances.

Evaluation:
The performance overall was good, some of the lighting worked really well, fitting to the mood of the song. For example, in the song Wicked, the lights had a combination of C.S. Spot with Red Backlights, which backlights can create a mood of wickedness, and the Spotlights light up the singer only, directing the audience’s attention to the singer, separating the singer with the rest of the stage. The lighting was also good with the song City of Stars, a C.S. Spot is lighting up the actor, with a Blue G.W., and yellow backlights. The Blue G.W. represents the sky, with the yellow backlights acting like stars. The blue and the yellow complement each other well, creating an overall dreamy mood. Lastly, the piano spotlight worked well as I lowered the focus of the spots, so there were no clear edges and faded out nicely. Some things to improve are leaving some time to check the state of the lights and checking each individually at the end to make sure they work as intended.

The picture below shows the performer not standing in the right place:

Evaluation:
When we designed the lights, we put a piece of tape on the stage so that the performers knew where to stand when they got on the stage. However, the performers did not stand on the tape at the time of the performance. Resulting in the performer's head not being lit by the lights and remaining in the shadow. So we need to improve on having a briefing with the performers so that they would know where to stand to stay lit at the time of performance.
