Evaluation:

A professional lighting technician came into our school's auditorium, his name is Balu. He introduced and taught us how to use the ChamSys lighting desk. It was my first time using the Chamsys, and it was very different from what I was using before, the Daslight. In my opinion, the ChamSys light desk is a lot better than the Daslight because there are faders instead of buttons to control the lighting states, so it allows us to cross-fade two lighting presets. It also allows us to create a cue stack, which makes a show very easy to run with just a press of a button after everything has been programmed. Because it was my first time using this desk, and I was still unfamiliar with it, there are many functions of the desk that we still need to figure out. I was really quick at learning the things that Balu taught us, and I would want to use the desk regularly which will help me familiarize the functions that I have learned already, but also to explore the lighting desk by searching up tutorials online. The time I spent with Balu today helped me broaden my knowledge of working as a lighting technician and working with equipment that would be closer to the professional world of theater. Balu gave some advice to us when we were operating the lighting desk, for example saving frequently after you have made changes to a show.
